MCDS and Rural Development
More than 70% of India's population lives in rural areas and many of them, below the poverty line. Only about 1-5% of the benefits of the developmental programmes of the government manage to percolate to the rural masses.
As an NCO in the developmental sector, MCDS also focuses its efforts towards development of rural communities. MCDS reaches out to 40 villages in Chengalpet district and is carried out in partnership with FIDES India.
Programmes include
Preparation and marketing of indigenous medicines
Preparation & distribution of liquid
manure & natural compost manure
Formation of model dairy and agricultural farms
Formation of self-help-groups (SHCS) for women
Training of women community leaders
Involving women in various community oriented programmes
Health care, awareness on health and social problems
Evening classes for children |
