By using sports as a platform, Special Olympics is able to use Its grass-roots penetration to go where others cannot. Its global reach rivals that of the International OlympicCommittee and the United Nations.
What is the mission of Special Olympics?
The mission of special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Unified Sports
MCDS has the distinction of pioneering this activity in India. This event brings
together students who have intellectual disabilities and those who do not.
They practice and perform together and even share a meal. Every sporting
event is an invitation to experience the surprise of unexpected human achievement.
This has become an annual event of MCDS and Montfort Matriculation School, St.Thomas Mount, Butt Road, Chennai, involving hundreds of children with intellectual disabilities from institutions across Chennai city.s
